Ms. Lueker makes a very important point about local influences on business. Like politics, business, too, is local, as evidenced by the good real estate market in her area, due to the influence of the nearby military base. When thinking about a new business, market research is so important. It is important to gather facts and statistics using credible online and print resources, but talking to people and knowing what might influence your industry locally are equally important parts of that research process.
