The following is summary from the Interview Digital Marketing Specialist Branden Stanley who is currently enrolled in the Masters of Entrepreneurship Program at Western Carolina. Within the article you will also find audio excerpts from Branden.
Q: Tell me a little about yourself such as your background and why you joined the Master’s Program.
A: I am originally from Jacksonville Florida and currently live in Knoxville Tennessee. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from Florida State, I started my career as a Graphic Designer/ Web Designer. I later moved into advertising and digital media marketing. The reason I joined this Masters of Entrepreneurship (M.E.) program was for the convenience of taking online classes that allowed me to continue to working. This program also ties into my dreams of becoming a business owner in the near future. While enrolled in the M.E. program I look forward to learning from my peers and professors on how to start a successful new business.
Q: As the M.E. uses a learning community structure for their online classes, what do you feel is your biggest strength that you can share with the group?
A: My biggest strength is my marketing and advertising background. In my job I work with all types of businesses, from small to large and enjoy advising clients on how to manage their marketing budget and provide advertising advice. I hope to be a resource to my classmates through providing advice on digital marketing and advertising.
Q: Can you tell me a little about your job and the company you are working for?
A: I work for EW Scripps Company within the newspaper division selling digital media. I provide online advertising for companies from all over the United States and even abroad.
Q: Can you define for us what “Digital Marketing” is?
A: Digital Marketing is a new emerging type of advertising that is opposite of traditional advertising (print, radio or television). Digital Marketing is all online and includes anything from web design, to search engine optimization or marketing (Google adwords), to social media management, (Facebook ads).

Q: Any final words Branden that you would like to share with the cohort?
A: I am here in this program to learn from everyone especially in the areas of finance and management and hope that in return I can provide some advice in the area of marketing and advertising that can be useful to others.
