Morgan Carver, Promotions Coordinator for Greater Media Charlotte

When I met Morgan Carver, she was in an undergraduate program to bring news to our peers at Western Carolina University. Now she is the Promotions Coordinator of Greater Media Charlotte. She works as a marketer for WBT-AM/FM and WLNK-FM. These radio stations have an expansive audience in Charlotte North Carolina which is the 24th largest market in the United States.

Morgan has a very sweet demeanor but knows when to lose the charm and get work done. She was gracious enough to allow me to interview her about her work with GMC.
The marketing profession is a very dog-eat-dog world. There is a lot of turnover and when companies make cut backs, marketing professionals are some of the first to go. Especially in the radio world, jobs are hard to keep. She attributes her career stability to the simple fact that she takes on all the responsibility that they can throw at her. This not only allows her to become more valuable, but she also looks at it as a learning experience to strengthen her skill sets.

Robert Kanofsky, Owner of G & S Heating-Air-Energy Services

Three years ago Robert Kanofsky decided to leave corporate America and go into business for himself.  Like many entrepreneurs it didn’t matter to him the type of business, as long as he could use his management skills, skills he had honed over twelve plus years.

Kanofsky’s management background was extensive.  He had worked for a steel company as a production scheduling supervisor, an inventory analyst for a company that made jet engines, and for Harley Davidson in a myriad of positions—marketing research analyst, district sales manager, director of special operations, of fabrication, field operations—you name it.

Mark Csordos started his first business (C&S Mystery Shoppers, Inc.) around the kitchen table and sold it four years later. Along the way he was featured in The New York Times, Vogue, Entrepreneur, and over fifty other publications. His first book on entrepreneurship, Business Lessons for Entrepreneurs, was published by Thomson Learning. He has spoken around the country on topics such as entrepreneurship, goal setting, time management, and sales.
