Tell me about the history and your role in the Rowan County Jazz and Blues Festival:
In 1999, I started having fish-fry’s in downtown Salisbury. I was a member of the United Arts Council and I knew that my community wanted to see a festival. I pushed for a festival and I got it. It wasn’t easy. My first festival was with a homemade stage made from a single-wide mobile home. I even made the festival banner from shower curtains.
I have the great pleasure and honor of personally knowing Tim Gardner, founder and owner of G-Graphics Company in Greensboro, North Carolina. G-Graphics is a graphics/marketing services company that especially works with small businesses in creating their marketing related materials. Tim is a talented entrepreneur, and has some wise words for those interested in the world of graphic design, marketing, and entrepreneurship. On Saturday, January 24, 2015, I had the great pleasure of interviewing Bryce Duncan, a PHD student in nano-sciene and nano-engineering at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Duncan is also one of the co-founders of Kepley Biosystems. Kepley is a bioscience company which specializes in research and new technologies. Duncan is an entrepreneurial chemist who works among many biologists. I enjoyed learning about nano-science and nano-engineering, and the innovative practices taking place in such field and beyond.
