[9:48:22 PM] Roxanne Eadie: I’m Roxanne here with here with Buddy Robinson on Monday September 12th for a Cohort 9 Member interview, which we’re doing on Skype via chat log. Buddy are you ready?
[9:49:10 PM] Buddy Robinson: Yes Ms. Roxanne, you may begin with your interview.
[9:49:30 PM] Roxanne Eadie: So Buddy where are you attending WCU from (city/town/state)?
[9:50:29 PM] Buddy Robinson: I am attending WCU from Cullowhee NC; I am located less than a mile from the school.
[9:52:24 PM] Roxanne Eadie: So Buddy, you told me something very interesting about yourself earlier. Would you mind sharing your age and what you accomplished in high school?
[9:54:36 PM] Buddy Robinson: I am twenty years old, and I graduated high school with my AA degree. I accomplished this feat by attending an early college high school, REaCH. I have been taking college courses since the 9th grade.
[9:56:49 PM] Roxanne Eadie: That’s very impressive! How did you come to the decision to pursue your ME?
[10:00:30 PM] Buddy Robinson: I came to WCU in the year 2009 and was on a full scholarship to play football. During this time I decided to major in Entrepreneurship. In 2010 I quit playing football so I could concentrate on school, etc. I graduated in May of 2011 and during the summer I decided I wanted to play football again and pursuing a ME was the only way!
[10:01:54 PM] Roxanne Eadie: Some of the youngest entrepreneurs have been the most successful, for example, Mark Zuckerburg; the founder of Facebook is now worth 13.6 billion. Do you believe that your age is an advantage and why?
[10:06:19 PM] Buddy Robinson: Nice question. I believe that my age is an advantage if I decide to pursue opening my own businesses. My maturity level matches my accomplishments, so in a way I will win plenty of people over in the world just by having a drive. My age is a disadvantage when it comes to applying for a job simply for the fact that I have qualifications but no experience.
[10:08:36 PM] Roxanne Eadie: After you finish the ME program will you be looking to work for an employer to gain some experience or do you already have a business that you would like to start?
[10:10:53 PM] Buddy Robinson: I have plenty of businesses that I will like to start up but do to the fact that you have not signed a confidentiality agreement I am not a liberty to discuss these business ventures in this interview.
[10:13:36 PM] Roxanne Eadie: Understandable. So, if possible you would like to start your own business first rather than go into the corporate world?
[10:14:58 PM] Buddy Robinson: In order to be successful I must fail first, so I would truly like to start my own business first unless the salary of the corporate world is too much to say no to.
[10:17:53 PM] Roxanne Eadie: Buddy, being an athlete, I’m sure you have gained many lessons in football that can be applied to the business world. What advantage could being an athlete give you when you own your own business?
[10:21:37 PM] Buddy Robinson: Discipline and team work! First you have to be committed to the cause and believe that you can set out to complete your goals. Realize that a business is a team effort even if you are the owner. A business is just like football, it takes a team to win and in a business everybody has to communicate for a business to be successful.

[10:24:19 PM] Roxanne Eadie: Yes, thank you Buddy, I am.
[10:24:40 PM] Buddy Robinson: Why are you in this cohort?
[10:29:01 PM] Roxanne Eadie: I have been in sales since I graduated from University of Florida in 2002. I have always been successful due to my persistence and now I would like to learn how to use my talents to benefit my own business.
[10:30:43 PM] Buddy Robinson: Do you know what type of business you would like to create?
[10:33:38 PM] Roxanne Eadie: I do. I have already written a business plan and have done research on the industry I would like to enter but there is a lot more to running a business than that. That is why I am seeking more information through this program.
[10:37:04 PM] Buddy Robinson: Roxanne do you have the heart of an entrepreneur? Also, do you think that anyone can be an entrepreneur or certain people are born as entrepreneurs?
[10:40:45 PM] Roxanne Eadie: I believe I do. Ever since I was a little girl I have always schemed and thought of ways to make money. Whether that was selling candy at school for a 50% profit or running a neighborhood lawn mowing business.
[10:42:16 PM] Roxanne Eadie: I think that anyone can be an entrepreneur but it takes a certain personality to enjoy it!
[10:43:51 PM] Buddy Robinson: Last question Roxanne. Growing up as a young girl, who did you look up to? Who did you want to be?
[10:48:04 PM] Roxanne Eadie: I idolized FloJo (Florence Griffin Joyner). She was an amazing track star and Olympian. Track was a huge influence in my life. I ran track until I got injured in college and had to stop. I too wanted that amazing Olympic gold.
