- What is your current career?
I am currently the Director of Admission & Enrollment Management at a Pre-K – 12 independent school.
- Do you intend on staying in your same profession, or starting your own business after the program?
My hope is to be an innovator and leader in the field of education. While I have colleagues that would love to start their own school, my preference would be to lead evolution at a broad cross section of currently operating schools and school systems.
- What do you hope to take away from this program?
I hope for more of what I have already experienced: opportunities to test my ideas on a “real” audience, gather insights and different perspectives from a large number of varied backgrounds and individuals, sharpen my ability to be a successful leader, gain tools and knowledge that will improve my work and ability to impact others, gather knowledge on how to be a positive change agent as opposed to simply a “revolutionary”, and so much more!
- What do you consider your biggest weakness and what are you doing to improve on it?
I have plenty of those. I think my biggest weakness is that I enjoy making other people happy and that can lead to an inability to say “no”. At times this will lead to a whole series of unintended consequences that could have been avoided entirely. I am working to improve this through bi-weekly “executive coaching sessions” that I have hold with a peer that is also in educational leadership. She and I hold each other accountable for making improvements to our practices.
- What are your professional goals?
I love the field of education and working with young people, families, and teachers. I aspire to lead as a Head of School.
- What do you consider your biggest achievement?
Well, I am most proud of my family and the life that we have created. Professionally, earning the opportunity to work at my current school has been extraordinary.
- What do you consider to be your strengths?
I try hard to see the big picture but not lose sight of the critical details.
- How do you leverage those strengths in you current profession and how do you leverage them in the future as an entrepreneur?
In my current role, I have to balance numerous strategic goals for our school related to enrollment, budget, brand recognition, etc. in a very competitive market. Keeping a whole school lens (big picture) at a school with 4 different divisions is very important to success. At the same time, my team has to pay attention to the smallest of details as it relates to our day to day jobs and customer service. I think leveraging that mindset of always delivering great customer service will be important regardless of where my professional endeavors take me.
- What are your hobbies and interests and how do they tie into your aspirations as an entrepreneur?
I enjoying watching and playing sports, cooking, and spending time with my family. Pursuing one’s passions in life is central to my educational philosophy.
- Do you have any further educational goals after completing the program?
Not definitively, although being back in such a healthy learning environment as a student has really been wonderful, so it’s possible that I would pursue another step. Beyond that, we are always pushing forward with challenging professional development at my current school.
